Prime Minister ordered prompt medical treatment for victims

Jahangir Kabir Nanak, a member of the Awami League presidium, said on Sunday that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had ordered prompt medical attention for victims of the Chittagong depot fire.

He made the remarks during a visit to victims of the horrific Sitakunda fire being treated at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

He said the Prime Minister had ordered Chhatra League leaders and activists to extend maximum cooperation to the victims. “Chhatra League leaders will donate blood wherever needed.”

Asked about the Prime Minister’s message, Nanak said: “Sheikh Hasina has been investigating the case since Saturday midnight. She is in constant contact with the doctors in charge of the burns unit.

“On the other hand, those injured in Chittagong, Deputy Education Minister, Lawyer Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel, Party Advisory Council Member Ruhul Haque and Secretary for Health and Welfare Affairs people, Dr. Rokeya Sultana, have been given special responsibility in this regard.”

Nanak further said that the Prime Minister had also assigned Dr. Samanta Lal Sen, head of the burns unit, to visit the injured in Chittagong.

A team of three doctors will visit the injured in the port city on Monday.
