Suspected terrorists reportedly killed two ad hoc health personnel on Friday and injured another.
The victims were allegedly attacked while returning from duty in Zangang Community of Atakar Chiefdom, Kaura Local Government Area, Kaduna State.
They were reportedly responsible for the distribution of mosquito nets in some communities in the local government area.
New Nigeria Peoples Party House of Assembly candidate Isaac Gandu, who confirmed the incident to the PUNCH on Sunday, said the victims were killed on the Zangang-Zankan road after distributing mosquito nets in the Zankan neighborhood .
“The only female on the team narrowly escaped with gunshot wounds, she is receiving medical treatment at an undisclosed facility,” he said.
Kaduna State Police Command spokesman Mohammed Jalige did not respond to his calls at the time of this report.
In a separate incident, some bandits reportedly abducted a pregnant woman in Lema community, Mando, Igabi local government area on Sunday.
The bandits, in a house-to-house operation, reportedly abducted seven other residents of the community.
One of the residents of the community, Musa Danladi, told reporters in the state capital that members of the community were unable to leave their homes because of gunfire from the bandits.
“They arrived around 1 a.m. and took away eight residents, including a pregnant woman who came to visit her sick mother in the community. This is not the first time bandits have attacked our community,” he said.
There was no official confirmation of the incident from the state government or state police command at the time of this report.
The police spokesman’s phone rang and there was no response to a text message sent to him as of press time.
