The Joint Health Sector Union has called on Federation Service Chief Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan to sanction chief medical directors and medical directors of federal health facilities for their alleged continued oppression of health workers. .
The Acting National Secretary of JOHESU, Mr. MO Ajorutu, in a letter to Yemi-Esan, accused some CMDs and MDs in federal hospitals of disrupting the acquisition of postgraduate specialties and skills by health workers.
The letter titled “Call for Sanctions Against CMDs and Physicians in Federal Health Facilities” was seen by our correspondent on Monday.
It reads: “It has become imperative to draw the attention of your high office to the continued and undisguised oppression of healthcare workers by disrupting their efforts to acquire skills and postgraduate specialties by CMDs and physicians in federal health facilities.
“In 2015, the Federal Ministry of Health, under the direction of the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Linus Awute, approved the use of all federal health institutions in the country as training centers for resident pharmacists in training in the West African Postgraduate College of Pharmacists, by circular.
“All Chief Executive Officers of federal health facilities, with the support of the Federal Department of Health, have sabotaged the residency training circular for resident pharmacists. The few federal hospitals that authorize the internal training of pharmacists charge them exorbitant fees contrary to the authorization circulars.
“We also feel it necessary to put on the record that 11 years after the National Establishment Board approved a consultant pharmacist cadre, first approved in 2011 with all the necessary ingredients of due process from the head of function public of the Federation and an enabling circular for a smooth running. implementation has once again issued the Federal Ministry of Health.
