Bharat Biotech Calls on Health Workers to Be “Vigilant”, Says “Only Covaxin Should Be Given to 15-18 Years Old” | Latest India News

Expressing concerns over unapproved vaccines given to children, Bharat Biotech issued a statement on Friday urging healthcare workers to be ‘vigilant’ and ensure that only Covaxin is given to the 15 to 15 age group. 18 years old.

The statement comes after the company received reports of other vaccines, which have not been approved for children, being given to the newly eligible group.

“We have received several reports of other Covid-19 vaccines being given to people between the ages of 15 and 18,” the Hyderabad-based vaccine maker said in a statement, shared late at night on Twitter.

“We humbly ask healthcare workers to be extra vigilant and to ensure that only Covaxin is given to people between the ages of 15 and 18,” he added.

Earlier today, Bharat Biotech issued a clarification saying that no pain relievers are recommended for children taking Covaxin jab.

“We have received comments that some vaccination centers recommend taking 3 tablets of paracetamol 500 mg with Covaxin for children. No paracetamol or pain reliever is recommended after being vaccinated with Covaxin, ”he said in a statement.

India opened the Covid-19 vaccination for children 15 and older on January 3, as soon as the company received approval from the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI). So far, the government has only approved Covaxin as a safe vaccine for the under-18 age group.
