My Guber offer for all the people of Rivers, Fubara clarifies Rivers State Governor Chief Nyesom Wike said he will not support anyone who believes that only the presidency of the country is their birthright, and that no other ethnic group can produce the President of Nigeria.
Wike made the statement during the Rivers State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) 2023 election campaign kick-off rally held at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Omagwa, Ikwerre Local Government Area of the state, last Saturday.
It is even as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate for the 2023 elections in Rivers State, Sir Siminialayi Fubara, has said that the gubernatorial election in the state will not concerned not him, but all the natives of Rivers and those who live and do business in the state.
The governor questioned why anyone could go on national television to make fun of any tribe, implying that they are less Nigerian and therefore not qualified, on an ethnic basis, to access the Presidency.
‘My dear brothers of the Integrity Group, you have done well. They tried to break us, they couldn’t break us and they never will.
“But here in Rivers State, I will say it and let the heavens hear me. Let the earth hear me today. I will not support anyone who says that no other person from other ethnic groups can be president. I won’t.
“I mean, Nigeria belongs to all of us, whether you are Hausa, Fulani; whether you are from Yoruba, whether you are from Igbo or Ikwerre, whether you are from Urhobo, whether you are from Itsekiri, Ijaw or anywhere, you have the right to be president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“So when you go on national television and tell people, don’t vote Yorubas, don’t vote Igbos, you haven’t even mentioned where I’m from, which means nobody cares. identify with me; which means I come from nowhere. But God knows I come from somewhere.
Wike explained that his position has nothing to do with the party because he believes in the PDP.
But, he insisted that this was the identity of a Nigerian people and, therefore, should have equal status regardless of their ethnic background.
The governor said that when people don’t recognize you exist, it’s necessary to tell those people you exist.
According to him, the people of Rivers state exist and as Nigerians they can also determine the issues of the presidency and become the president of Nigeria as well.
“You say it, don’t vote for the Igbos and don’t vote for the Yorubas. You don’t say where I come from, which means I don’t exist.
“God, are you alive and they say I don’t exist? I exist. God never made a mistake in life. He’s the one who said where we should come from? It has nothing to do with the party. It has to do with my identity.
Wike challenged PDP National Chairman Dr. Iyorchia Ayu to prosecute him, if not corrupt as accused, for the embezzlement of 1 Billion Naira, 100 Million Naira and the money made from the party primaries.
The Governor of Rivers State explained that Ayu was already building a private university with the proceeds of corruption and insisted that such a person could not lead Rivers State in any campaign.
“I challenged Ayu, you’re corrupt and you can’t lead me to campaign. I won’t, Rivers State won’t, whether they like it or not; Ayu can’t lead us to campaign. campaign. Ayu is corrupt.
He added, “You (Ayu) are building a university in Benue State, but you didn’t stay in power for a year. How to fight against corruption? I said you took 1 billion naira. I told you, you took 100 million naira. I told you, you took the money we made in primary, Ayu will sue me, if I lied.
Wike thanked Governors Samuel Ortom, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Okezie Ikpeazu and Seyi Makinde of Benue, Enugu, Abia and Oyo, respectively, for honoring the people of Rivers with their presence at the vintage event.
“I sincerely thank my brothers, the Integrity Governors for being here with us. Let me assure you that no state in the PDP Integrity Group will lose their election as Governor. No grouping will cause the PDPs to lose any Rivers, Abia, Oyo, Benue and Enugu gubernatorial elections in 2023.
“Here in Rivers State, they can’t defeat us because we’ve done so well. Even President Muhammadu Buhari, who is a member of APC, acknowledged that we had worked for the people of Rivers. If the president could score us high, who are they to challenge us at the polls?
“APC in Rivers State sold all of our assets before we came on board, they sold our plane, we got it back, they sold our gas turbines that Dr Peter Odili built, they sold it sold out to themselves, now they want to come back, Rivers people won’t let that happen,” the governor added.
